self adhesive number plates was created by adam
Are self adhesive number plates illegal? I have seen loads on 4x4s but then my mate with a historic range rover tells me they are illegal on newer cars. Does anyone know whats what?

Mine will be getting a square plate covering where the spot lights would be.

I have a 'stick-on' on the bonnet. It's not legal so as above, I've had a square one made up to go on the left side of the bumper, over the fog light blancs.
Trouble is, I now have a Rhino Rays front bumper so don't know which plate to go with. The square or a 'normal' rectangular one in the centre. Trouble with that is it will cover the RHINO cut-out in the centre.
Will have to give it a 'coat of looking' at when I get back to the UK.

I think you would be unlucky to get pulled over for it.
I used to have a 3/4 size plate on my vx220 (which was very small and illegal)
I never got in trouble for it and it passed its MOT with it on fine too.

They have to have the correct font, spacing between the characters and digits, they are to be vertical etc etc. They have to have the 'E' mark and the plate manufacturers name etc on.
All can be found on the internet. Just do a Google for legality of registration plates etc. Or something along those lines.

If I had stopped you as in just a spot check by the roadside and everything was in order with your documents and vehicle, apart from the 'stick-on' I would probably let it go.
If there was something wrong with documents/vehicle or the drivers attitude stank, then I would 'do you' for the 'stick-on.

You take your chances etc etc...... Buit YES, technically, they are illegal.... :)
