Hi

Found this

"Next generation Suzuki Jimny will come in late 2012/early 2013

According to Suzuki spokesperson in Brazil say that the new Jimny will be made in December 2012 and the first national units to hit stores in early 2013.We also expect that the full model change Jimny should debut sometime in 2012 and will heading to European market at that year. India will be a manufactoring base too but India market have to wait until 2013.

Current Brazilian Jimmy are import from Japan. The model has 1.3 16V petrol engine of 85 hp and 5-speed manual transmission with three drive modes: 4 x2, 4×4 and 4x4L.The list of standard features includes air conditioning, power steering and radio / CD player.

The Jimny is currently the oldest car of the Suzuki line. It was launched 40 years ago and has evolved over time. SAccording to the brand, has sold more 2.4 million units of the car in 188 countries. In Brazil, the vehicle was offered from 1998 to 2003 and returned to the market in 2008."

Before I read this I ordered a Jeep Wrangler, I could not wait anymore for a possible new Jimny to come out.

Even if a new version of Jimny comes out it aint sure that Suzuki in Sweden will import them, because a car with good ground clearance and narrow width like the Jimny is probably prone to rollover and will probably fail the elk test. Maybe with ESP the Jimny will take the elk test???

A Wrangler is about 30cm wider and almost twice as heavy as the Jimny.

Best regards

Hopefully this is correct in that the new car will have low range, therefore hopefully it will also be live axled all round.

It'd probably be a sensible option on Suzuki's part to continue to be the only people making such a car!

Long live Jimny!

Wish they would bring them out with ESP, since they will no longer be allowed (if not already) to be sold in Australia without it. I'm sure other countries will follow suit soon or already have. So that would open up their market again

I'm happy hearing the news about the Brazil factory, that means the current model will not be discontinued and we'll still have a source of original factory parts.

I'm also envious about the new model coming up, but part of me is skeptical; there are too many regulations now (pollution norms, safety norms, etc) which will probably tone down the car too much. Let's wait, hope and see
