Now I might get ridiculed for this, but the ride in my standard 1999 Jimny seems very bumpy, harsh and jiggly. I have a Land Rover Discovery, so am aware of the feel of off roaders in comparison to a car, but I also have a Series Land Rover and with the exception of the noise, the ride is not much difference!
Even on a smooth flat road the Jimny appears to be able to find bumps and lumps, and on poor roads (as many are) it is horrendous! Now is this a standard factory added option, or have I an issue somewhere?
Tyres are standard Bridgestone Duellers, correctly inflated and balanced. On brief inspection, all coils and dampers are present and correct, with no obvious defects, so not sure if I am expecting too much or something is a miss.
Cheers in advance
Phil

Hi Phil
On the road my 2007 model with standard Bridgestone Duellers is exactly the same, but it appears to glide smoothly down lumpy potholed green lanes. Also, as a new owner, just discovered that the way to deal with speed bumps is to take only one wheel over, taking both over feels like hitting a 6inch curb head-on.
It's got to be something with the way the suspension reacts, or is it ? are Bridgestones actually made of stone - maybe a techie forum member, could explain it nicely for non-techies, not using "weasel-ease speak"

Thanks for the reply, especially as you have a new one, I was driving yesterday thinking that they surely cannot be still selling this brand new! I am very much looking at taking it off road and seeing how it handles that, it cannot be as severely uncomfortable as my rusty old Series!
Funny you say that about the tyres, it does feel like they are at fault, that is why I checked the pressures, and surprised at how low the pressure should be 23psi front, 26psi rear! I wonder whether it is because the suspension setup is to take off roading, but the vehicle just does not have the weight to allow a smooth ride on the road?
And I second the speed bump approch, mis judged one yesterday, and thought I had hit a mini wall!
Cheers

Try dropping tyre pressures by 3 or 4 psi and see how that feels, greatly improved ride comfort in ours which is on bridgestones wer un BFGs onthe jeep and do the same with them too.

 I made the jump from leafsprung SJs to a Jimny and the improvement in comfort on the road was err there. The ride can be a bit choppy, I think its because of the short wheelbase as much as anything but I run my 235s at 18psi and its much better (the cd doesnt jump now) All part of the fun of a Suzuki. Somehow though the ride difference off road between the Jimny and the SJ is much better so should be an improvement over your Series.
