Help...Unidentified part! was created by v8dougie
After successfully changing the timing belt on my Jimny (very easy to do!), I was finishing off tightening the lower supporting bolt for the alternator, and I found this just loose resting on top of where the bottom of the radiator sits. Does anyone have any idea what it is or where it has come from? I have taken the car for a drive and all still works fine.
It looks like it has broken/sheared off from somewhere, but the break has a bit of rust and crud on it, so does not look massively recent. Any help much appreciated!
Cheers
Phil

Without going to the garage and looking at mine, I'd say it was one of the front tie down points that had been cut off or burnt off.

Again without looking if not a tie down point as above it could be an engine lifting eye (do they still fit them ?)

Thanks for the super speedy responses. Sounds plausible, would someone be able to have a look and see if/where theirs is attached. Bit concerned as the vehicle is totally standard, and never been off road (will change soon!) so not sure why it would be broken.
Cheers

That looks like him...very strange part to come off like you say. As far as I know the engine hasn't been out, and I assume it is an engine anchor point.
I shall check when I get home, cheers for the help & pic!
