Some might say not suitable for this forum, but if you use a Dyson to clean your Jimny pay attention!
Missus complaining for a while - "Dyson not as good as it used to be - we'll have to buy a new one".. I'd had the filter out a couple of times cleaned and replaced but not much better and didn't fancy shelling out for another one (the Aberdonian in me again) so I investigated further on Saturday.
Took the cyclone thingy out of the dust collector bin bit and thought I'd give it a bit of a blast with the compressor (NOTE if you are going to do this do it outside in a well ventilated area) Yes much dust flew from various nooks and crannies but I wasn't finished yet! Took the three star headed screws out of the top, around where the handle is, and lifted out the top cover. This revealed the top ot the part the Dyson mannie has in his right hand in this picture,

Looking down into the top of each little cone I saw mostly dust, bits of fluff and cat and dog hair. Much blasting with the air gun later I still wasn't happy so I took a bit of thin stiff wire with a hook and went fishing. That's where all the crud had ended up completely blocking the the little holes with the black propellor shaped bits in them (seen in the part by his left hand, You can't actually dismantle to this level as the yellow cone bit is glued to the grey bit with the holes) It took ages to remove it all and then I put it all back together. WOW what a difference! Just like new! Misses well chuffed, she spent all afternoon going over the whole house and had to empty it twice.
I wonder what I'll spend the £150- £200 I saved on!!

On the 8th Day God made the LandRover -
On the 9th day he swapped it for a Jimny.

We've only had our a year and I can see that it's not what it was but I don't think it's bad enough to take apart yet.

I will do so now though, when it gets too bad that is, thanks for the tip.

I don't think they are all they're cracked up to be though. Too much brittle plastic for my liking!

Get a Henry. We've actually got a Henry and a Dyson in the house because the Dyson drives me nuts.

Noisey, heavy, smelly, always needs it's filter's changing. Hate the thing. It's like a bloody Land Rover compared to the agile Jimny with the smiley face. ;)
