Help, My hubby and I went to look at a 2002 model yesterday, this it the first one we have seen, it had a lot of grease on the ball joints is that normal? also tested the 4wd , it made a noise when the 4wd was engaged and I drove very slowly on full lock and the wheel juddered quite alot, almost kangaroed. Is this normal or should we walk away? please help
The jimny doesn't have a centre diff so when you engage 4wd and put full lock on you will get a juddering as all the wheels are trying to turn at the same speed and when you are turning the inside wheels turn slower
Ideally you should not engage 4wd and put full lock on if the ground is hard as it can break a front half shaft
By all means test the 4wd but do so in a straight line
can't really advise on the balljoints as I bought mine as a modified offroader so everything underneath was mud brown coloured
You will get some more noise in 4wd as all the front prop and half shafts etc are driving but again mine has no carpets and a few creaks and rattles any way.
I would advise you see and drive as many as you can - even annoy the local suzuki dealer and get test drives of newer models to compare ( even if you never intend to spend that much money)
I am sure some of the other people on here with more standard trucks will be along soon to give their opinions
