Bit more towards the buggy today...

Painted the radius arms and the axle casing twice, then fitted the SuperPro poly bushes into the radius arms, and then fitted them to the axle casing -

Replacement diff (4,3:1 instead of 3.9:1) also painted (on the floor)

Ready for reassembly / rebuild soon...

Slight oddity... the bush kit I bought (off myself as it was left in B4V stock) was a castor corrected kit, but the buggy is only having a minimal (1.5"~2") lift so won't need it, so I chose to use them to reposition the axle slightly forward to help clear the firewall...

Back to the buggy today... after first fixing the Gold daily driver (replacement panhard rod bolt for the MOT retest) and S200KYS (new JimnyBits front panhard rod fitted to go with the re-affixed panhard bracket!

Front axle casing ready to go back under... freshly painted (a few weeks ago!), JimnyBits front shock guards, SuperPro poly bushes, breather elbow tapped and fitted, shocks are Monrow Adventure Grand Vitara rears which are +1.5" over Jimny ones...

Radius arms reattached, with JimnyBits guards...

Front suspension fitted... fresh new standard front springs with spring spacers on top, bump stop spacers and poly bump cones, Monroe shocks as previously mentioned... and SuperPro castor correction bushes set to push the axle forward rather than re-align it..

All in place with a JimnyBits front adjustable panhard rod...

Next step will be the transmission, so a later VVT diff is painted and ready to go in to adjust the gearing for the bigger tyres - 4.3 rather than 3.9's, new bearings and seals everywhere, and get the wheels and tyres back on... push it out to get the feel of it, where to cut the front body panels off ;) etc, and tidy the garage and push it back in again...

Transfer box then needs to come out and get armoured, new brackets and a bucket...

And then spend the winter fettling it into a buggy shape B)

Have you seen a Dr about your Suzuki addiction problem Dave? I think I mentioned it once before but you seem to have gained another Jimny since then!

Edit: I've just seen your timeline thread and realised how deep rooted the problem is

On that note, I hope your Dad is all better now.

Another productive day yesterday...

I spent the morning soaking the hubs and brakes with degreaser and then cleaning them with a wire brush in the drill before finally painting them...

Then just as a distraction sfter lunch I fitted the rear radius arm guards :)

And then... :( ... I tried to test fit the later VVT diff into the axle casing... it's a 4.3 ratio diff, ie 43 eeth on the crown wheel and 10 on the pinion, so it#s a bit bigger diameter than the original 3.9 siffs, and so... they wouldn't fit!! I could have kicked myself as the axle casing had been out from under the Jimny and on the bench... I don't know why I didn't test fit it on the bench... So, I had to disappear under the Jimny with the angle grinder to clearence it by cutting the two square slots bigger... :( d

Finally in though, and glued in with Loctite 5110 "strawberry jam" sealent and new bolts (of course!)

Quick tool invention!

So that the oil seals are in place with the bearing shells, so we're already for the front axle, steering and brakes rebuild when a mate has been round on Sunday with a press to change the hub bearings :)

There's also an order winging it's way from the Bigimny store which has new disks and caliper rebuild kits in it... B)
