Hmmmm, wondering if that void could be utilised with an insert, 110mm x 120mm by maybe 4-500mm deep and a lid, even a lockable lid? Just thinking that two extra storage compartments would always come in handy. Must nut something out on paper then make a balsa wood dummy to see how useful they would be

Great minds and all that...
Had another thought this morning. Thinking now of cutting down the front, up to the square hole at top of pillar, to make space for a tilt out bin or slide out one. Tilt out would be easier, hinged at bottom so that it would open out from top.
Something like this but to appropiate measurement...

Well, finally got around to finishing blanks for rear seat post holes, plus other stuff..been busy retiring from work, and doing loads of other stuff..heres a few pics: floor done, blanks fitted, underseat storage, to name just a few, also front seats lifted with 26mm spacers.. courtesy of here.!!
Oh yes, also couldnt help myself, cods Jimster was a bit bling at the front, thought i'd bling the rear lights as well, and fitted a pair of 2.500lb. strength 12mm stainless tow/shackle eyes at same time..The rear deck i fitted an alloy strip to stop stuff sliding into rear footwell, and, found that the plastic boot tray which came with Jimster.fitted perfectly over it! Thus giving a usefful tray on deck behind seats..loads more planned,, addictive isnt it?
The hardtop fast back has just come off for 'summer'?..hopes!
Beauty of this style hardtop is; soft top can be folded down, tucked inside rear body, and hardtop will fit onto body ..thus gives a bit more securirty if we're away anywhere staying, once we get there, hardtop can be lifted off..and have benefit of ragtop also..love it.!!
Hope all this doesnt bore you all.

I like the eyebolts on the rear seat belt mounts, good solution.
I bolted tie downs on mine but might change to your idea.
