There's nothing secret about them.
They're mainly homebuilt around an old differential.

One of my buddies has a mechanical winch off a Robur army truck. It winches in a 1:1 of wheel rotation speed. So he can winch at over 70 km/h

I like the idea of a mechanical winch for long pulls.
But the technical winching on slopes and i forests I prefer the electrical winch. Often far quicker to use.
