Here we go then...
Bit hard to imagine how they are going to fit together, but I'll explain it the best I can now, and then assemble it on the Jimny on Sunday and get some photos which will make it all clear The square "U" shape will obviously be going over the top of the windscreen and down the top of the doors, this will protect the front soft-top section of roof that has been left on the Jimny in case we get a few decent days of sunshine?! The "L" shaped tubes taped together in the photo then connect to this front "U" shape and run across the top of the rear fibreglass hard-top section, and then down the back of it to land on the top of the ORA rear (winch) bumper... the two short pieces on the ground slip into the end of the "U" shaped piece to join the two sections together, as once it's welded up it would be too big as a whole to go in my powdercoater's oven! The three other piece are cross bars that -
... have been cut, bent and notched to fit perfectly across the "U" piece's width, these will be placed one at the front, one at the rear, and one in the middle, the middle one being strategically placed so that the soft-top section can be folded back and under the crossbar to protect it from branches, etc... The rear two - middle and back - will then have mounts for a couple of black waffle boards that are sat waiting patiently in the garage...
Terrible "sketch" I did a while back in Paint -
More soon!

So, a bit like a KAP external rollcage, but just the top and back bars that hit the bumper -
But tighter to the body to protect the roof sections against damage from trees rubbing against them...
It's well known that I've never liked the look of an external "climbing frame" rollcage (no offence meant to anyone who makes them / has them fitted, it's just my personal esthetical opinion) hence why Superzuki had a similar internal hoop and stays and external front body protection section -
So the Jimny will end up similar, internal roll hoop just-in-case it ever rolls, and an external "roof rack" / tree sliders to protect the roof soft-top and fibreglass rear, as this was a Jimny I already had, I'd have preferred a hard-top, but there was no point selling a known good one just to buy another one... LOL

Impatience got the better of me!
So I went to B&Q to get some strips of wood -
You can get more of an idea from that, but it's all sat a bit high on the wooden strips, and it's a bit wide at the back until the "L" shapes are cut to length and sat on the top of the bumper rather than spread out at the bottoms...
