I’ve been notified by Kaspersky on my PC of a data leak and the only information they give me is that it’s through Gravatar. I didn’t know who they were and don’t have any accounts with them but after enquiring elsewhere it appears they are responsible for avatars on web sites. Does BigJimny use Gravatar and if so, are there any other people who have had such a security warning?

I’m only of a small number of forums and going to ask this on each of them. The solution apparently is to change passwords.

BigJimny uses Kunena as its forum for interaction.
Kunena has a Gravatar integration plugin to enable it to use Gravatar but this plugin has alway been disabled as I see no need for this integration.

One of my email accounts shows a data leak by Gravatar- back in 2020!

Kaspersky should give the date of the leak, if it is since 2020 then they must still be at it...

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Lots of forums use(d) Gravatar to provide a consistent user avatar. As above, the leak was in 2020, nothing recently.

haveibeenpwned.com is always worth checking to see if your email address(es) have been included in a data leak.
