Great sport that. Have been into handgun and rifle shooting since I was about 10, but compared to firearms it's bloody difficult! And firearms are hard enough to master! Nice hobby to get your teeth into though.
One thing an old coach told me was that, once you're done with your bow-shooting for the day, that evening you should take your bow in the other arm and exercise the opposite side. If not, there's the risk of over-devolping the muscles on the one side, which can lead to spine issues such as scoliosis down the line.
You getting a compound or a recurve bow?

Recurve bow for me. Spent years shooting with rifles and shotguns but now I live in the town, bows make more sense.
I have a decent sized back garden so I have room to practice. Always fancied having a go but thought it was expensive.
Turns out it much cheaper than I thought. Not too bothered about the draw weight as I am not exactly small and have a very
manual job so strength is not a problem for an average draw.

Nice. Post some pics of your set-up, sounds like you're onto a good thing, especially for urban areas.

I am interested in this, always have been, but never did anything about it apart from a pistol crossbow so I will follow your posts with interest. How long is the garden?
