Sell your bits!
NOTE: This is for members and their private sales/wants.
There are rules that suppliers have to follow (and many of you do follow the rules). However there have been a number of instances recently where "suppliers" have broken the rules.
Suppliers/Dealers or anyone selling with a commercial view in mind CANNOT post here unless responding to a specific request of a member in a "wanted" post.
Suppliers include people "breaking for spares" on a regular basis, when purchasing spares members should ask a supplier what they contribute to the running of the forum

To GreenJMY: I'm confident you'll be able to find another TCM. Broadening the search may help. Foreign advert sites like kleinanzeigen.de (Germany) or allegro.pl (Poland) will turn up a lot of used Jimny parts. Google Translate is your friend.
Also, though it is a long shot, it may not be totally out of the question that the TCM could be repaired. A specialist technician could examine the circuit board for damage and -- if you are lucky -- there is a chance that only minor components were fried. For example, if the water shorted a capacitor, but did not reach the ICs (chips) that hold the firmware, a repair could get the TCM working for a relatively small outlay. I have tried this with ECUs that have failed on me, and though it generally is not successful, one time it saved a completely irreplaceable unit that turned out to have just a failed 10p resistor. Many manufacturers take engine/transmission/emissions control units back in core exchange for precisely this reason.
Again, this is a long shot, and I mention it just for your information. If you happen to know someone who repairs electronics for a living, it may be worth having him take a look if all else fails.

This is often posted on the internet. Thinking through how such a law would actually be enforced should make one skeptical! Though if you find that the police have a special Car Parts Availability Investigative Unit, please do let us know, as I have a list of carmakers for them to chew on.[...] I was under the impression that manufacturers were supposed to offer parts supply up to 10 years old by law [...]

Thank you Martin for your help - can the unit be repaired or is the vehicle now potentially scrapped ?

Anyway having a look through the vehicle dismantler listing's or even contacting them to keep an eye out wouldn't be a bad idea. I'm not totally sure of the revision dates but I can't imagine it being specific to 2018 as that's the last year of registration so I'd suspect that you could have luck with 2014 onwards probably, certainly the only one on ebay this morning was 06 to 14 which would tie in. It's also not impossible for that revision to work to some extent but I don't know what was changed, it could be a mounting hole in a different place or it could be a total rework of the code. So yeah ask around with people like Thornton breakers, K.A.P suzuki or James Priestley of this parish they may be able to help.

It would be a civil matter not a criminal one so the police wouldn't be involved.

There was a couple on ebay, i searched for the part number. Could be worth a try if all else fails.
Could just be that the difference in the last digit of the part number has nothing to do with the interface but fuel save or how it gears up and down, so it would fit and behave allmost like it should.
I am guessing it would have to get coded to the ECU.
If it where mine i would immediately pry it open, spray it with WD40, brush with a tooth brush, then electrocleaner, then put it in rice and heat to 40 C for a day or two..
And look for any roasted components.
now i should have found my picture of a drowned ECU hung up to dry in the sun from the mirror of a dead SJ in Denmark.
Started right up again after a couple of hours in the sun.

To get back on topic:
I like what @yakuza posted, with the quibble that I would use isopropyl alcohol instead of WD40. Isopropanol will not leave a residue, which can be critical on a circuit board.

Yes, I was having a bit of fun at your expense. (Please don't lock this good fellow's thread because of it.)It would be a civil matter not a criminal one so the police wouldn't be involved.

If it were mine I would have also recommended isopropyl alcohol and a fibreglass brush. It's a low voltage device and it was fresh but muddy water. Use the alcohol and brush to give a thorough clean. Get the cleaner inside all the connectors. Where the connectors meet any circuit boards look for small components with burn marks or cracks as it may have sacrificial protection components. Then I would look for components with id numbers on them as it would then be possible to do simple voltage and signal tests around these components based on their pin outs
Is this the one that does work but has violent gear changes? ( I hear lots of different things through running this group and get confused between cars). We tried a number of breakers in conjunction with the dealer including James Priestley with no luck for a direct TCM replacement.
I think it can be resolved but I don't think it will be a quick process, happy to help with advice. However if you are thinking of selling then perhaps let me know.
