Good day guys I’m currently in need of a R72 gearbox or one that would fit similarly on a 2009 Suzuki jimny jb43.

R72s are generally expensive and troublesome. You can fit the R7ME from an earlier Jimny with one small adapter for the rear mount. The ratios are 30% longer, which isn't necessarily a problem if you are on standard tyres and drive slow. Otherwise you need to swap the transfer case and diffs as well.

R72 newer than 2010 or so are less troublesome. They have upgraded bearings.
Any used R72 gearbox from a VVT Jimny should be a straight fit to your car, but i would choose newer and check if a new used box have the bearings inside with the closed sides.
My 2005 box failed and now i got a 2013 gearbox. stuck a camera in the new box and found green sides on the bearings so they are the upgraded closed ones.

I got 17% high range reduction in my transfer case. It is too much reduction to compensate for my 235's in my opinion as I have the M16 too.
Last time i checked on grim jeeper I found the car would be useless for me if i put a 2004 gearbox from a non VVT in it.
5-6000rpm on the highway if i remember it correctly.

Norway 2005 Jimny M16A VVT, 235 BFG MT, 2" Trailmaster, ARB rear lck, 17%/87% high/low gears.

You've got the gearing the wrong way around. The earlier gearbox has 30% longer ratios, so you'll be doing 30% lower rpm at highway speeds.

Ok np I’ll continue to search for this gear box although I think I’ve exhausted my options.

I was thinking wherever of not other vehicles Carries the gearbox as mine to just replace since it’s not available

Every manual Jimny from 2005 to 2018 uses the same R72 gearbox, but it's not found in any other vehicles.

ok, not used to the term "longer" as higher or lower is only used in my profession.
I just knew it has the "wrong" ratios. :)

I must be confusing it with the vvt/auto transfer swap result from grimjeeper.
