Rough Country have upgraded their shock range and changed them to the N2.0 Product line.

These are now the default shock absorber supplied in the shop.

Here is what Rough Country have to say:

Who says your daily driver and your weekend warrior can't be the same vehicle? Introducing The N2.0 Shock absorber: Engineered by Rough Country's Research and Development Team specifically for both on and off-road use. N2.0 shocks are nitrogen charged at 200 PSI to prevent foaming and offer a longer lifespan. Incorporating "Velocity Sensitive Valving" technology, these shocks utilize a 10-stage variable valving process that helps facilitate resistance valving incorporated in the shock according to piston rod speed. This allows for a super smooth highway ride and outstanding control in rugged off road situations from the same shock, without turning any knobs or shock removal for re-adjustment. Each shock is tested and custom tuned for its specific vehicle application. It's Chromed Hardened 9/16" Piston Rod and massive 1 3/8" Bore allow for fluid movement while providing the type of heavy duty durability needed in off-road situations.

Specifications:

10-Stage Variable Valving
200 psi Nitrogen Charged
Massive 1 3/8" Bore
Chromed Hardened 9/16" Piston Rod
Spring Loaded Piston Rod Seal
Military Spec. Fluid Rated To –50° C
Rubber bushings for better absorption
Limited Lifetime Warranty
Silver powder coat finish

Martin

I went to knock on the door of Milners this weekend as my current Rough Currenty shocks are over damped on the rear. But they were out. Will these be better (softer or more controlled) than the white ones?

When my damper brackets broke the ride was super soft (and super bouncy) so i know the ride can be improved to a point.

Thanks

I think that these are basically the same as previous Rough Country models. There are couple of small upgrade points, the main one being the gas pressure.

I have not used these yet as they are new but they are going to go onto "BigJimny" in the next few weeks (Yes, BigJimny is coming back to life!).

Therefore if you feel your current set up is over damped I would not be convinced that these are the answer.

The rear of a Jimny has always been an issue as its so light in standard form. I current have Pro comp ES9000 on the front and Pro comp ES3000 on the rear. However I have a full cage, metal rear bumper and large winch battery in the boot.

I do not have the specs for the new ones but as they are the replacements they should be similar.

I could cut the restraining straps on a set (probably at risk of life and limb) to see what they extend to I suppose.
