Yes, due to popular demand we have organised a BigJimny Meet event on June 14th 2026 at  Parkwood 4x4 (a.k.a Tong) which is between Leeds and Bradford in West Yorkshire. This is a meet-up with 4x4 off-road drive around event. This is a social meet along with the opportunity to drive your vehicle off-road on a site where there is something for everyone. So its time to put it in your diary as this is a not to be missed event.

This is an event for all vehicles, from shiny to fully tricked up. It is also a social event with overnight camping and a great vibe for those wanting to simply hang around with fellow Jimny enthusiasts. The event location is Parkwood 4x4 which is often called "Tong", the postcode is BD4 0RR. This is one of the largest off-road sites in the UK and has a variety of firm tracks through to extreme testing terrain. There will be a burger van during the day for breakfast, snacks and lunch. We will be also organising toilets and wash facilities for the camping area.

All participants must be pre-booked, turn up ad-hoc on the day will not be permitted. General spectators are not permitted as there is only limited space. Everyone attending should have a seat in a booked vehicle and that seat should have appropriate safety provision (seat belt, child seat, harness etc.)

Booking is PER VEHICLE and it is £45, there is a multi-vehicle discount for VEHICLES BOOKED AT THE SAME TIME so gather your friends together and make a single booking to save.

Additional drivers/passengers with the same vehicle are free, we are setting the limit on tickets to 140.

BEFORE YOU BOOK - You can ask questions etc. in the forum here: - FORUM DISCUSSION

ONCE YOU HAVE BOOKED - There is a WhatsApp group just for this event (no Technical Support or general Jimny Chat) - Please email  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with your entry number and mobile number to gain  access

Trailered vehicles are permitted, however this is a family drive around event so do not come if you expect to blast around in a "scrapper". BigJimny and the site owners reserve the right to refuse entry to vehicles that appear to be little more than scrap. There has been a rise in recent events(not BigJimny events!) where people have brought along a scrapper to destroy, this is not what this event is about.

As with any motorsport or motor related event, there is a small element of danger. You are responsible for driving in a safe manner. The event is suitable for beginners and shiny cars but you should be aware that there is always a chance of a puncture or foliage scratches dependant on how you drive.

02/03/08 - Wheel Arch Liners

Once a Jimny has larger wheels fitted it is normal to cut back the flares on the wheel arches to prevent them rubbing. This means that the factory fitted wheel arch liners no longer fit and in my case they have been thrown away at some point in the past.

This then leaves a large open gap in the rear of the wing through to the door hinge. When off-roading this then fills with mud and is impossible to clean. Worse still is that even when cleaned it still seems to bleed mud out down the side of your car and in my case, with a black coloured car, it looks permanently dirty.

SteveW has sent in the solution below. He has cut soft plastic to shape and inserted it into the wheel arches. It certainly looks neat and is therefore high on my own list of things to do - look out for my version in the future.

Many thanks to Steve for sending this in.

17/02/08 - Slab Common

As a special treat we went over to the MacMillan Charity 4x4 Drive around at Slab Common. Slab Common is a military driving area where REME practice large vehicle recoverys. Therefore it is chewed up by tanks and strewn with wrecked vehicles. Some very challenging sand (they also practice Army desert maneouvres here) led to some sticky moments.

17/02/08 - Jimny Lean!

A common problem with a lifted Jimny is "Jimny Lean". This is where it appears to sag on the driver side. The original manufacturers springs are stiffer on the drivers side but most lift kits do not cater for this.

One simple answer is to put a spring spacer in on the drivers side. These are available from "Bits4Vits" in the UK. Here are some pictures of mine.

31/12/07 - Dennis' Jimny - UPDATED!

Dennis has sent in some new pictures of some extreme green laning! Looks like it might have needed a bit more than T-Cut to clean it afterwards.

05/02/08 - Oxley's Shaw

Thames Valley 4x4's February event was at the club's home site of Oxley's Shaw. Following the recent rain the site was the wettest its ever been, with simple muddy tracks seeing every scrabbling for grip.

The Jimny, with its relatively light weight and fat tyres struggled for grip. Instead of cutting through the mud to the grip below it floated on the muddy surface and ground to a wheelspinning halt.

These conditions really needed tall thin tyres in order to be successful.
