oh foook, would the 16v vitara pistons vit the 8v block?
looking on the net, g16a was used as the 8v and the 16v so im hoping that the pistons will be the same size just different cuts in the crown of the piston

Im not sure for definate on the 16valve pistons in the 8 valve block never done it although the bore is the same size i do know that the 1300 jimny pistons have there gudgeon pins held in with circlips and the 1600 8 valve pistons have sweat fit gudgeon pins so i would assume the 1600 16 valve pistons have retaining circlips so you may not be able to fit the 16 valve pistons to the 8 valve conrods pins plus 4 pistons will cost a fortune.Much easier to whip the pistons out and pop some pockets into them.aint no biggey if someone has the kit to do it as its only clearance as long as they match all the pistons will be happy days :)

i was looking at buying some 2nd pistons with conrods and replacing the rings, hmmm seems a pain in the ass, i will have to look into both options, there is a 1600 16v block on ebay with pistons and crank, as the early 16v and 8v shared the g16a block maybe they will fit

does anyone on here have the kit to bore out some 'pockets' in my pistons?

just been reading on another forum apparently the isnt an issue withthe vavles hitting the piston?? im not going to take that as gospel but something to look at, if only some was had been selling a 16v lump to go straight in to my jimny before i bought a 8v and all the brand new bits!
