I picked my Jimny up a couple of weeks ago and just before collection I was told they needed to order a tool(?) to reset the TPMS but I could bring the car back the following week to have it done. When I collected the car I was told that they managed to sort it but within a couple of miles the TPMS Service warning started flashing. I called the dealer and they told me that they will order the tool and would contact me. They haven’t contacted me and the warning is annoying as it continually flashes. I am naturally cynical and I’m not sure what “tool” they would need…? Not particularly happy as they have also managed to get polish on the plastic trims; this wasn’t evident when I collected it as the plastic had been dressed, but now it’s worn off and looks rubbish.
Any idea what the next step is for the TPMS?

The Dealer commissioning process uses two tools. A TMPS reader and the Dealer laptop system. Normally the Dealer would plug the laptop into the car and put the TMPS controller into "learn" mode. They would then walk around the car with the reader and trigger the tyre sensors. This would be picked up by the controller and learnt, job done. Some dealers did not bother with the trigger tool as dropping the tyre pressure and re-inflating would trigger the sensor into transmitting.
The NEW sensors fitted no longer respond to the deflate/inflate trick so the dealer must use a tool. Equally, the central controller software has changed so the dealer laptop needs updating in order to communicate with it. Its a double whammy. The dealer needs to update their laptop (they have to pay for that) and for some TMPS tools they need to update their licence (another fee for that!) Therefore a few have not bothered leading to this issue.
You have to find a dealer that has updated everything so they can do it.
The third "whammy" is that the TMPS system often fails to read in normal operation. Therefore even after a proper reset it can take time to clear. Mine took a further couple of days after the dealer reset it to clear.
I have the TPMS reset tool myself and if you are near Berkshire we can have a go if you want.

This looks great. Did you buy the second one you mentioned in the other thread to sell on, or did you let the dealer keep it to sell at list price to another customer?

probably collect it next week, hopefully on 71 plate. WBAC are offering 24k for the white one, so I'm guessing it's going to be the same for a 2-3 week old black one.

Ah, ok, should make some nice money for yourself there having got another new one. Though I'm sure someone in another thread said WBAC were only offering £11k when they find it's a van, something about they have a separate website - WeBuyAnyVan that should have been used, rather than WBAC.

not sure. Someone else was saying the prices on Van trader are plus vat. I doubt that's true either.
