I don't think they contain any sensors. Mine are completely shrouded by my rockslider brackets and have been filled with Dinitrol without any warning lights popping up.

Mine are full of Dinitrol too.

I just assumed they were rust-traps, I couldn't see any other reason for them.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

Mine doesn't have them, I only realised that some do when I stated looking into fitting rockslides.

ARB Australia says the boxes are part of the side impact protection requirements in some markets

The parts manual describes them as "Frame Re-inforcement" and they are NOT fitted to the new Commercial varient so they are possibly related to safety of the rear passengers or to remove a resonance in the frame created by the equipment/spec of the passenger varient. They are available separately as 57420-78R00 if anyone wants them.

Are these boxes welded or bolted into place? If it's the latter shortest straw gets the spanners out.

I was looking for places to use my Acrow chassis props prior to fitting my suspension lift and the front "rings" proved ideal. They, at least, proved useful but probably not in the manner envisaged by Suzuki.

The box is interesting because it is available under it's own part number but is welded into place. Does this imply that Suzuki consider that bolting it on is not strong enough? The parts availability of it implies that Suzuki consider that it may be necessary to replace it at some point. This would seem to indicate that a side impact measure is probably close to the mark. As soon as the commercial version is available a check can be made to see if they are fitted .

I know the commercial version as currently planned does not have them, the parts manual is quite clear on that.

The commercial version does not have rear passengers so no need to supply it with any form of passenger protection which would appear to confirm that that's what the boxes are for, although I am not sure how much protection they would give.
