But the rings are common in both pictures just the boxes come and go. I have no secret knowledge just thinking logically?

Could the boxes be associated with seatbelt mounting locations bolted through to the chassis to improve occupant safety in the Ncap ratings?

Box's might be some sort of side impact mitigation, Maybe why they vary from country to country depedant the regulations.

We have these boxes in Aus too. I guess they contain infrared sensors for lane departure warning (which SA does not get). Rubber for damping the sensors, and a shield for their protection. Will tape over the holes and drive erratically later today to no doubt prove myself wrong
