Wheels

Ive just been given a set of 5 Daihatsu sport track, 15" wheels with good Dunlop All terrain tyres fitted.
The wheels spent a few months on an Sj before being committed to a shed for storage for 12 months.

Anyway, they are 5 stud, 15" wheels with 195 Tyres. The wheels are in superb condition and the tyres have around 10mm min of tread on them

Im wondering if these will fit straight on a Jimny or will I need a suspension lift? Ive read that although the studs will line up, they have a different offset. will this give me a big problem ?

Thanks. Will order a KAP 2" lift tomorrow anyway.
Need to replace the front discs and pads, plus get the car serviced too.

195 is just the width of the tyre not the OD (overall diamiter) this is how 'european style'tyre sizes work:

195/75 r15 this stands for a 195mm wide tyre with side walls 75% as tall as the width on 15" rims

so the OD of a 195/75 r15 tyre is 195mm x 75% x2 =292.5mm(11.5inches) + 15"= 26.5" OD

but a 195/85 r15 is 195 x 85 x 2 =331.5(13") + 15"=28"OD

What does your OD work out as?

Hmmm ok, time to bring Hubby in on this I suspect.
The tyres, when placed next to the vehicle are definatly taller ... about 2" I rekon. still, I assume that will only put the speedo and odometer out, so whatever speed is registered on the speedo will be less than that actually being done .... is that right ?

Ill get the tyre sizes and check tomorrow when we planned on swapping the wheels over.
I assume they will still fit under the arches anyway, as they have been fitted to an SJ in the past.

New wheels and tyres fitted. Definatly bigger than the ones that came off.

The new wheels are 6J x15's where as standard Jimny wheels I think are 5.5J x15's so should beable to go a little wider when I need new tyres.

Having run a few miles with the new tyres / wheels and using our Tomtom to calibrate the difference in the speedo, it turns out that the speedo is spot on and only 1mph out @ 60mph !!..
the wheels and tyres that came off (205x70x15's) were reasing 6 mph on average slower than the GPS readings, so as it transpires the new wheels and tires actually work quite well.
Clearance is about 35mm between all bodywork on full and compressed suspension and axel articulation.

Lift Kit comming on Wed, Going to see about booking the Jimny to have th elift and a full service in Newbury 4x4 centre later thsi week.
