Just a thought lol

I have bought "first generation" new cars in the past and been OK or lucky. If I have issues I can assist others with the info. I quite like being a guinea pig. My current (and keeper) is the new gen Mini Countryman purchased as soon as it came out and it is a gem so hope the new Jimny will be the same.

The MK1 of anything is always the "best" one, before they find a way to make it "better" by cheapening it.

Think MK1 escort, I suppose RAV4, Subaru Forrester, Jimny (as in SJ10) Land Rover, Range Rover & Jeep Jeep are more appropriate for us.

That said I'm waiting until they ramp up production enough that I can get one with an incentive rather than at a premium. I should get another 2 years out of the current one without much trouble.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

My current (non-Jimny) car is on its last legs, hopefully it'll survive until I can get a new Jimny, I don't really want to have to fork out for an interim car.

I wonder if the automatic version will have the same irritating issue the current Jimny has of holding third gear until the oil reaches a predefined temperature. Used to drive me nuts in the winter.

Does it?

They definitely won't go into lock up until they are hot, but usually the holding the lower gears thing is more to warm up the catalyst quickly and get the emissions down, the Vectra used to do it (I used to think I'd got it in sport mode somehow) , and the [strike]Renault[/strike] Nee-San does it, but they would both go into 4th quite a few miles before they would lock up in it.

Placed my order too. Dealer say there has been a massive amount of interest. Also seamed pretty sure that it was going to be priced around 16k.
