Morning all! Cant believe its been over a year since I last posted on the project! A young family and work has really taken its toll on me spending time in the cave working on the toys. Plus to be honest I lost a bit of interest in the Dutton and it sat for a good 12 months half completed once I had put the gearbox back in.
So back in June, I put some effort in and after a couple of days finished the rebuild of the Dutton. The rebuild gearbox is running a treat.
I can officially call it an amphibious vehicle as it has been for a very short swim!
1st Swim - A bit nerve racking, making sure I pulled all the right levers, plus getting used to the different handling in the water. You will notice the Surf was only in rear wheel driver when it drover back up the ramp, because I forgot to engage the front hubs!
2nd swim - This time with four wheel drive!

Looks fantastic!
A little more ballast in the back and I think the trim will be just right, with a little less wake.
Pleased you've finally got it going, I know how much time availability changes when family comes on the scene!
Paul.

Love it! Would love to go in one one day.
Looks like it needs some ballast in the back as it sounds like the prop is ventilating
