Just a quick update, Taking jimny to a garage to get a more accurate quote on the rust treatment next week so fingers crossed, but i did sought some bits in each corner, see what you think im happy with it being my first go...

Finished rubbing down the spare wheel holder today ready to spray tomorrow, hopefully temp will raise a bit.

nice work actually, blends in well with the rest of the shell, which is usually an encouraging sign of a nice piece of work.

I was actually thinking about starting a thread on the subject of Jimny owners and rifles, but it seems this covers it already.

I'm a keen rifle shooter myself. Never got into PCP as I could not justify the set up expense, but I have a fair collection of Air Rifles. Always preferred Weihrauch myself, I have a HW99S .22 (generic 4x32 scope) and HW97K .177 (N-S 3-9x50AO Mount master), I also have a Webley and Scott Xocet .177 which is going at the end of the month, cracking gun, but I hardly use it. bought a BSA Meteor in .22 cal for Dad a few years back, he shoots that now and again.

A couple of years ago I applied for my FAC. took almost a year to get it, but finally got cleared this time last year. so I have a Weihrauch HW60/66 .22LR, and a Brno Mod 5 also in .22LR. HW60/66 has a Bushmaster 4x32 fitted, and the Mod 5 a Nikko Sterling gameking 6-24x50AOi, 60/66 has the better trigger, but Mod 5 cycles much better. only using 5 shot mags on either at the moment, but will probably get a 10 shot for the mod 5 once its been screw cut for moderator/an adaptor made.

Might have to ask wife If I can justify a second Jimny to go shooting lol. I doubt she'd let me use the new one to do so lol.

Paul.

Quick update, got jimjim from garage and is now welded and waxyoiled, got to remove the from the edge as they didnt dowhat i wanted which was annoying. I will then be painting it with hammerite. The guy says its solid underneath now, which is nice :) :) :)

I also cleaned up the rear door after removing the spare wheel holder for painting. Before and after pic...

Before i re apply the spare will holder i need to do somthing on the door paintwork. If you look at the pic below a few blistering bits have popped up, If i leave it and place the holder back on am i just asking for trouble caursing it to trap water causing rust. Please can i get advice. Obviously its not the time of year for rubbing back and painting..

Forgot to say I cut the jack holder out and will be putting this under the front seat. Also does anyone know where i can get the metal plug grommet things that are a bit bigger than a £2 coin. Ta

I wonder if its worthwhile fitting washers between the carrier and the door, that way there is a gap between them, so less likely to trap muck/damp in there?

I've not done it myself on either Vits or Disco, but just occurred to me when you raised the issue.

You must now have the most rot free jimny boot in the UK :)

Halfords do a selection of rubber grommets.

It may be a waste of time but I was thinking about leaving a moisture bag in the Jack recess.

I tried this once, Jim and it worked well for a short while, but then you have to be careful because when the collected moisture reacts with the crystals it turns to a weak acid (or alkaline, I forget which) and this kind of defeats the object unless you keep it all contained in some way!!
