Being from the States there are a LOT of compact cars we just do not get there, it's a shame. I have owned a '96 Jeep Cherokee and a '96 Toyota 4Runner... both very capable and fun rigs. Along with vintage and modern VW's, classic Chrysler's, Subaru's, and many others... car guy here.
So when I made the move to Portugal in February of this year I knew just what to look for. With so many Jimny's being made in the Santana/Spain factory you'd think they would be everywhere. In Spain they are plentiful... but Portuguese import laws are greedy and it unfortunately keeps the numbers very low here (which usually means the older cars are well past their prime).
Took me about 4-5 months of searching every day to find my Jimny... and so worth the wait. The hardest combo to find is a removable top with AC... it wasn't an option offered much here, being a coastal country. But it gets quite hot in the summer, and I am getting soft in my middle age, so versatility is needed. I could not be more excited!
JB33
2003 Hardtop
5spd manual
105,000 kms
40mm lift springs/shocks + 215 tires
Recently repainted (painting cars is very affordable here in Portugal)
Aside from some lighting upgrades, seat relocation brackets, and a few interior creature comforts... I am going keep it fairly as-is.
Look for all my NOOB questions coming soon (after I exhaust the search feature, obviously)

Looks like a very nice clean example, I am sure you will have plenty of fun, especially with the top down on those long sunny days.

My advice, if you see Filipao don't just honk, chase him down and demand a tour of his Gen4. He has some cool kit on that Jimny and is very tech-savvy -- IMO good guy to know if you are responsible for the care & feeding of a Jimny in Portugal.

Where in Portugal are you living? I am in Lisbon, Sao Bento area.
I will give a honk for a tour... and look out for a DM from me as well. I have a lot to learn about the local automotive scene. Brothers in Arms.

Cracking looking O2. You've the best of both worlds.
I believe all convertibles were built in Spain so maybe it was made not too far away from you.
