sand them a little all over to etch the surface so the paint can get a hold and it wont peel off in a week then and you can get a good finish if you lightly sand each coate then laquer.

I would use a coat of acid etch primer as well U-Pol #8 Acid Etch

Im pretty sure hammerite spray cant be laquered Or sanded, just check!

Comes out well anyway so you mite not want to, sure i can remember people trying to sand and laquer hammerite and it went all wrong!
