Lag, Shield or Re-locate was created by ZookFastback
Since fitting the headers (Extractors) to the G16B 1600 engine in my Jimny, I've noticed how hot it gets under the bonnet. Matter of fact, the overflow bottle is starting to melt on the outside nearest headers. Engine temp is normal and the new aluminium radiator has 3 cores instead of the original 2.
So, should I lag the headers, or build a shield or re-locate the overflow bottle? There is a 1" clearance from overflow bottle to headers at nearest point.

Forum member Keithy does an exquisite line in bonnet ventilation, developed to dramatically increase heat extraction following turbo installation. ...I've seen them first hand and they really are good.
Keith....you might send Ian a few pics...

That made me laugh, the bloke in the picture is about the same size as him.
The trike runs a big V-twin motor and the pipe from the front cylinder runs just inside your right leg.

For some reason, when you said the above, this is what came to my mind... :woohoo:

I think there are pictures in the turbo jimny thread?
I've moved my washer jets onto the wiper arms so I need to make a new set.
My vents weren't really to cool the headers just to allow air easier passage through the radiator..... abelt and braces approach.
Lagging will cure the boiling the water in the washer bottle problem....and all the under-bonnet heat trying to melt everything.
Bearing in mind it merely passes the heat further down the line so check the other heat shields are in place.
