My 1999 Blue Jimny JLX was created by Kirby
Hi Guys,

I have been a member on this site for a number of years reading and learning. I have owned a 1999 Jimny JLX for a number of years. I got it from a friend who was frustrated with a bad wobble so she sold it to me at a great price (even though I tried to convince her to keep it). Once I got it I realised that the front Panhard rod bolt was out so I replaced it and told her I would let her have it back but she was adamant that she did not want it.

It sat at my fathers house for a number of years before I decided to have some body work done to it and to have it painted. By that time it was infested with rats. I decided to strip down the interior and clean it properly. I removed the carpet, seats and roof lining. It then went to get body worked and have a section of the roof replaced due to rust. One of my friends painted it over in the original colour. I imported a set of Ignis Sport Seats and I bought a set of 15x7 modulars with -30 offset from Jim on here.

The jeep is manual and has A/C and power windows. A/C is very important to me as Barbados is very hot. I plan to use the jeep for offroading (you guys call it greenlaning) as well as our local Safaris. They are alot like the UK Road rallies but only 20% or less of the roads we use are tarmac. While the terrain is not that rough, our 'cart' roads are usually very slushy and diff height is a major consideration, hence why I have chosen 235/75 or 30x9.5 tyres. Traction in the mud is also very important so a rear locker and a welded front diff or LSD are a must.

My plans are below
3" JimnyBits lifts with ES3000 shocks
Extended brake lines
Radius arms
SuperPro Bushings
Panhard Rods
Prop shaft spacer
Brake balance correction
Snorkel
ARB front bumper
55W HID headlight bulbs
33" LED Bar
Engine rebuild (possibly with a 1.6 bottom end)
VVT front and rear differentials with 4.3 final drive
Terratrip 303 Plus (to be borrowed from my rally car)
6 Point CDS Rollcage

I have done the following so far

Repainted the jeep
Fitted a new (to my jeep) carpet
Fitted a Sparco Steering Wheel
Fitted a set of Ignis Sport Recaros.

Before body work

Ready for paint

Painted

Final clean and reassembly

I noticed that one of the rear quarter glasses was leaking so i removed it so I could seal it properly.
