Hi all! As promised, here's a pic of the gooooooollllllllllld jimny!

[IMG

Just been on wiring up the spots on the front, just need to break into the headlight wiring to work the relay and it'll be sorted, but had to stop yesterday to go and pick the kids up from school. Noticed a bit of rust starting around the front chassis members where it joins the cross member behind the bumper so will be on the "to fettle" list when the weather gets a bit better.

My other off-roader isn't quite as quick as the Jimny but has plenty of power (have used it to pull motorhomes out of the mud in the past!) and certainly turns a lot of heads....

the traction engine is just a big toy! great fun, we were using it here to raise money for the local primary school but generally we do a few rallies round the North East and make a nuisance of ourselves on the local roads. it's a four inch Foster agricultural which I have to confess we bought but have rebuilt a lot of it, including retubing the boiler (back breaking work!) bored out knackered threads in the boiler crown and rethreaded for a fusible plug, made a new connecting rod, eccentric link and crosshead after the old con rod snapped and rebuilt the diff after the crown gear broke into three pieces! We're also on building a three inch Allchin from scratch - very slow progress but my dad retired this year so he'll hopefully get a crack on with it and I'll do what I can!

I have a company called Bell boilers building my boiler because altho im a coded welder if i built the boiler it wont have a EC stamp on it which will make it hard to past the steam test and get insurance and also if i wanted to sell it later on.. just collecting the rough castings at the minute but cant wait to start cutting

.....what he said! Went down to see it, liked it and shook hands at £1500. The bloke said he was going to end the auction if anyone made him a sensible offer and it was too good to let go. Got the front spots wired up now but they point down too much to be any use, even at the limit of their adjustment! Look good though, and that's the main thing....!!
