Hey everyone,
Been stalking around on this forum for a while, deciding if I want to get a Jimny or not, and decided the right of the 2 options! Done a bit of looking around on t'internet for them, and found one for sale near me, so went to test drive it, and have put a deposit down, collecting a week tomorrow!
Its a 2004 soft top in black (and regretably silver at the bottom, which i'll be spraying black ASAP!). Shes done 54k, and FSH, so im keeping my fingers crossed she won't be too much of a hassle (unlike the freelander I had before).
There was a abit of death wobble at 45-50mph, but seemed to come and go, the guy recons its the wheels needing balanced (also think the cars been there for a year or so and not moved much). But said he would sort that out before I collect it, so will make sure I test drive it again.
The other thing I didn't have chance to check was the 4WD, but again, will give that a good going over next week.
Im still a student so can't afford to go too crazy on her but got a few plans, namely snorkel, wheel spacers, new exhuast, roof lights (if I can fit them), CB, and a few other bits I took of the freelander.
The only thing im still unsure on is getting some steelies and AT/MT's. Would love some Road Venture MT KL71, mainly because they look beast! But need to do more reading into how much they'll affect fuel consumption (hate those 2 words!)
Looking forward to joining the Jimny club!

Welcome to the forum mate, I am a new owner too and have to say the folks on here are really friendly and helpful. That looks like a good condition motor you have got yourself. I'm sure you'll love it, I too was unsure but took the plunge and have to say I really like the Jimny in spite of the slow top end. It's relatively simple inside, indeed it reminds me of eighties cars but this just adds to the pleasure of ownership. Be good to hear how you get on with it.

The 3 spoke alloys have been known to cause wobble even if balanced and check for rust in the boot and under the rear seat bases

Welcome to the forum.
It looks nice, I like the black on silver - I think it gives a nice contrast to the black - probably nicer than all black.
As for fuel consumption, I've found mine to be like most Suzukis and that is fairly frugal. There are a lot thirstier motors out there.
Give it a good test drive before parting with notes, I gave mine a really good run and the next day it turned out to be a smoker.
If you have wobble do the wheel snatch test and look at the (front) axle ends for leaks to see if the king pin bearings need doing. I think they are the Achilles heel of these vehicles followed by the rust in the jack storage compartment.
Just noticed you had a Freelander. I know a few peeps who swear by them and they all say they drive like a car.
