I had an "investigation" into the front brace for an MOT after a tester tried to fail it.

It does not fail an MOT due to it being a structure forward of the windscreen, not on or part of the windscreen. See www.motuk.co.uk/manual_830.htm

Otherwise the spare wheel on Landrovers, front supports on long style roofracks, flags on diplomatic style cars, crane jibs etc. would also fail.

My Jimny has the KAP cage and the previous owner found it flexed around something terrible, therefore it has a cross brace and rubber bungs at the top of the cage between the cage and the body.

I think the MOT tester was just a JAP 4x4 hater! Got a fail paper for the brace, then when it did pass he put that the car is *DANGEROUS* as an advisory! And they verbally said just because it is jacked up on big wheels.
I wont be going there again! And the brace is going back on.

All the cages seem to be different, but the front bumpers all look very similar. The back bumpers seem to be different though. I wonder how many they made, and are they all accident damaged repaired vehicles?
