You were very unlucky. I have been stopped by the Gendarmes with my Jimny which like yours has been extensively modified. They seemed more interested in what I have done to the car and wanted to have a look at it. Lucky really as I don't have the original bumpers, wheels etc.
Did they say they would fine you if you didn't change the bumpers? Presumably they didn't say anything about the modified suspension etc. I know in France you are not allowed to change anything but thought they mainly ignored the mods as there are so many modified cars.

Renard38, just a quick thank you for all your posts. I have just read what you did post on a south african 4x4 forum. The people there luckily referenced to this site where you still active. Now I will continue reading here where you stopped on other site.
