Halford wrote: Thanks to Dyl, Vinnie, minibbb and BigAndy for advice on "Detailing" so I ordered on Amazon .....

1. Bilt Hamber Auto Clay Medium (200g) used with water £13.70
2. Meguiar's Ultimate Compound £9.01
3. Soft foam applicator pads (extravagant not necessary)
4. had some autoglym super resin polish from an old gift-set £00.00

I was a bit sceptical on the clay (never used it before)

anyway used the clay on the bonnet but it didn't seam to do much, just a little reddy brown deposit removed, and it took 4-ever (sigh) so didn't use it on the rest and went straight on with the Meguiar's.

I'm blown away .....
defo more glass-like after using clay ... think it didn't appear to do much as there was no wax or any protection at all on the paint
.. but that Meguiar's is awesome
.... and the resin polish effortless to use and gives a fantastic gloss

not sure if the images show how good it is, but almost all scratches are gone and I can see my face in the paintwork ............ :pinch: blown away with the results .... B)

I'm converted ;)

Try using this instead of water works much better

I never thought I'd see a clay bar'd Jimny!

It does look good though Halford. With a good regular coating of proper wax like Auto Glym HD wax etc, you will find it easier to wash and with spray on snow foam, the use of a lambs wool wash mit and using the two bucket method, you'll minimise fine scratches in the future.

I'm a bit of a bufty with my daily car!

I still can't believe I'm discussing car detailing on Big Jimny! Lol!

excellent, can see out clearly, just like looking through dark sunglasses.

no distortion like the blinds used to give (going to drive everywhere backwards now) B)

you do actually think that they're limo-tinted film windows and not clip-in plastic

Wow they look really good. And it must be cheaper than getting the windows tinted professionally.

They look really good. Another advantage is that they protect the rear screen heater wires which can get easily damaged when carrying stuff in the boot.

thanks guys, ;)

I think the price is about the same as a typical tinting company (some cheaper some more expensive),

but it's more convenient to fit these and you've got the resale/reuse option for a future date

reversing lights

after fitting my clip-in window tints, it was tricky reversing at night as the standard reversing lights didn't give sufficient light - was basically reversing not being able to see properly

so rather fit new dedicated lamps, took a gamble and replaced the Standard Clear Glass 21W W21W7440 Incandescent Bulb with some 92 LED 7440/582 White lamps

they're damn expensive at £29.99 a pair from autobulbs

bit of a problem though as they wouldn't fit through the holes would they :S

so after a bit of modification - trying sideways entry :pinch:

they went in, but almost touch the lens

but well worth the hassle

LED on the left, normal on the right

and in the two new LEDs in the the dark

well pleased

;)

if anyone wants anything from autobulbs , use the code THK500 and until 31/01/15 you'll get 10% off
