Gearbox oil was created by g4vcn

I have changed the oil seal on my gearbox and today i am filling the box but i cant find the correct gear oil in my local car spares. They have 75 w90 but i they only have api gl 5. The manual says i need gl 4. This has been the case for about 4 different places. Will the gl 5 be ok in my box?

Try 80w90 GL4, will make the gearchange a little notchier.

DO NOT use the Comma SX75w90 GL4 synthetic, I have and it is coming out again ASAP.

GL5 contains some deadly additives that can destroy the sychromesh cones this is more of a problem with old gearboxes, but notice Suzuki specify GL5 for the axles and GL4 for the gearbox, there must be a reason...

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

I went to a few more places and all they have is the comma 75 w90 gl5
they also had a 80 w90 gl 4. What is everyone else using in there boxes?

I've not used it but noticed difflock sell an oil they say suits both gearbox, transfer box and diffs. Might be worth a try.

Supposed to be very good, but very expensive, keep meaning to get some to try in the "crunchomatic (tm)" gearbox that Vauxhal fitted to my Corsa from new.....

I use lucas 75w90 synthetic gear oil in my gearbox ,and I've had on problem with it.

2002 JLX Soft Top
