Hi yes I've got mine sorted now
you have to swap the oil pump and cams over from the original engine and also the sump
the oil pump has the pick up on it for the sensor and the cam has a different pick up on and needs the original pick up
it's a fair job to do though the guy I got the engine off did the work on mine
hope this helps and you get it sorted anything else I can help with just let me know ANDY

Thanks a lot for the very fast very helpfull reply, iv got the original bits but starting to lose interest and tempted to ebay it as an ongoing project :(

Failing that i guess its not as simple as swapping the ecu over? i guess the imobiliser would be the first hurdle, i have all the bits available from the doner car, but the doner was a v reg manaul hardtop and mines a 51 reg auto softop

Hi if your fed up messing with it I would ask a mechanic how much they would charge to change the engine parts over Selling as a project you won't get much for it
You could say sod it and put a diesel in I came close then bottled it due to too much messing about

True, fitting the parts i can do myself, cam is easy enough, i had a quick look at the sump and i can see where the sensor goes on the old engine, but looks like it picks up from the bottom pulley? that said the engine i was looking at was in bits, but i shall swap the bits over and get it running i think, thankfully it doesnt owe much money or i would be sad! and your input has been a huge help :)
