Blowing fuses tail/front fog/dash circuit! was created by mcjimny
My jimny keeps blowing the 10a fuse for the tail light circuit.
I've just soldered the towbar wiring after putting it down to the bullet connectors or a loose wire in one of them. I put a new fuse in and got about a mile from home and it goes again.
As a bit of an amateur and embarrassing mistake when i wired up the towbar i took the shortest route and wired it up behind the bumper(i found the guide on here some months later) i've had no issue with it until now and its been on for over 18 months in all weathers.
I presume i've still got issues with the towbar wiring?

It must be shorting somewhere - maybe a live has chaffed through and is catching on the body/chassis somewhere and shorting - will take a bit of hunting down I suspect! Look where the wires go through holes or pinch points!

After a bit of cable chasing this morning i found the exhaust had melted a small piece in the towbar electrics exposing the core on 2 wires. Tidied it up and replaced the fuse. After a rigourous road test it appears to have cured it <touches wood>.

Glad it wasn't too hard to find it! Sometimes electrical faults can drive you round the bend when they are hard to find!
