215 75 15's / stock wheels / 40mm lift etc. was created by SPC5838
I know this is a carry over from the rasta4x4 post, but since there's been a few questions about what tyre size fits stock wheels / standard suspension, budget / what lifts etc lately ( myself included a while ago ) I thought I'd mention this under that subject so people can find it, might be handy for someone !
This one's used for expeditions ( seriously used apparently ! )and belongs to the guy who founded expeditionportal.com, where these photos / details came from so credit to expeditionswest and his site for that. It's surprisingly simple over all;
1. LT tires +1" size ( says later they're 16" but photos clearly 215 75 15 )
2. HD suspension and new shocks. +1" (near enough the same lift as spring spacers)
3. Skid plates (those luuurvly rasta4x4 jobs)
4. Lighting (gucci low profile LED lamps)
5. Interior Lashings (erm... ropes ?? :huh:)
6. F/R recovery points (off an ATV, of all things)
7. Interior power distibution (eh ? an adaptor for the fag lighter socket ?)
While this guys clearly spent a fair amount of cash ( those diff guards aint cheep alone, REALLY want those ! ) a similar spec ( inch odds lift, 215 75's, decent shocks, underside protection ) could be had for less than a grand using stuff from bitsforvits, jimnybits etc. using cheeper gear it would seem. Horses for courses I guess, but this ones really got me wondering if I really need that +2" lift, castor bushes, longer brake pipes etc planned / already bought. If this spec can do what this one does, it'd do for what I need
The post itself on his site is worth a look ( loads of big pics, detailed explanation of each mod and what he actually does with it ) but I can't get a link to work :blink: How I found it is on the rasta post with more pics. Not attempting to go through explaining that again tho lol

I think these pics say it all about the spec. May not be the hardest track ( seen tougher lanes ) but when you realise where in the world this thing actually is, I've def changed my mind about what I'll be doing to mine. Until next time I change my mind

Just found this while looking for something else.
People see trucks with big tyres and lifts etc.... many get hung up on the idea that you need it in order to be any good offroad.
I always stand by the advice for anyone that the 1st things you should look at are always more aggressive tyres and then recovery gear and routine servicing/inspection. IMHO for most people that just want to get some mud on their truck this spec would be more than adequate. Get out and learn what its capable of as it is. I've seen people competing in stock sj's with just muds and a half cage showing up plenty of better prepared trucks.
In saying that i'm still hankering after a small lift, mainly to make more room for slightly bigger tyres and on the sites i use it would help a little in some situations.................and it looks better
