I'm having the same problem at the moment.
On mine, the inlet manifold, + pipes, + connectors etc have to come off to remove the thermostat! What's that about????
What has helped is me placing a thin sheet of plastic I had in the garage, cut to size, in front of the radiator.
After approx 2 to 3 miles, I have warmer air blowing into the cab. So much better.
Eventually the guage gets up to just below the half way mark. Before it used to stay on the stop!
Obviously I'll be keeping a close eye on it just in case it starts to get too hot.
If this should happen, I'll just slide the sheet to one side exposing more of the rad.
A new stat will go in but in a while, not happy about having to remove all the inlet side of things. Don't want Jim off the road if we're getting some more snow.
