My Jimny Exhaust Predicament

Hi guys, just bought replacement cat and centre exhaust pipe sections for my 2006 jimny. However, the centre exhaust I bought turned out to be for a pre 2005 non vvt jimny as it has a 90 degree elbow at the end. Therefore it won’t connect to my muffler as it is a later vvt design which also has an elbow.
Can I purchase a new non vvt muffler with a straight flange and no elbow and bolt it onto the non vvt centre pipe that I bought? Or will it not fit correctly?
The original muffler is rusty anyway and only has a few years left in it. It’s probably worth replacing it.
Thanks very much,
James

Yes buy the muffler to suit your new exhaust and it will all fit properly. I think they changed the flange position to make fitment easier.
