New Wheels on Old Jimny

Hello, New to the site and a new to owning a Jimny.

I have inherited a 2006 Auto Jimny. After some extensive welding it is ready to go.

One issue I would like to correct is the state of the wheels. Two in particular have peeled paint and corrosion. I have seen on eBay a few new 2025 Jimny wheels being sold, but I cannot get categoric information on whether they will fit without modification and if there are any issues to look out for as a result of replacing with them. Perhaps they do not look right either and best to consider refurbing my originals. Appreciate any input. Thanks

The wheels fit across the range so no problem on the wheels themselves.

They fit. Personally I'm not a fan of the newer Gen 4 wheels on the older cars. I don't think they suit them. Now the later Gen 3 alloys would suit your car if you want to make it look newer.

I have a set on my 2003. A straight fit, although the tyre size is slightly different. 195/80r15 for the newer Jimnys, which is slightly taller but narrower than the 205/70r15 your Jimny would have come one. If you go for the steel wheels they are exactly the same as the Gen3 steel wheels, but in a very dark grey rather than silver. I picked up a couple of delivery mileage complete sets (10 wheels and 10 brand new tyres) for under £400. Cheap as chips!

There was some initial wrong assumptions made with the new jimny having a wider track than the older one that this was done via the wheels having a different offset. From having examined actual stamps on both wheels they are all 15×5.5j with an et of positive 5mm.
