Gen3 Temp sensor housing - M18a swap.

G'day guys,

Had a mech' swap a m18a I bought into my Gen3 Jimny.
He needed a hand tying up the loose ends and I'm a fabricator, ...

Last thing needs doing is modifying a coolant casting that came off the back of the old M13a motor to add an extra temp' sensor into the m18a VVT engine.

... does anyone know offhand what the brass thread on the Gen3 coolant temp sensors are please?
(Need to turn up a cap, TIG weld it into the casting to blank it off and then tap a new housing out for the sensor).

Thanks in advance.

Jumped the gun.
M12 x 1.5 it is.

Over complicated things by checking against nuts that had been put back in the wrong bin, ... you never want to put your nuts in the wrong bin. :)

G'day all,
Further to my ed-jut question about sensor thread size.

If any was interested in having a squizz, ...
This is the sensor housing/outlet mod that I made for the mechanic to facilitate the M18a swap.

Had to blank one of the outlets on the back of the motor and add a second coolant temp housing.
(Bit of jiggery-pokery with cooling plumbing due to the m18a being cross-mounted in the Liana and in-line mounted in the Jimny.)
-Chopped down the outlet (faces the firewall and wanted maximum offset).
-Turned up a cap to allow a decent thickness for threading.
-Notched pipe to mirror the notch I'd turned in the cap for TIGing.
TIG'd the aluminium cap and cast housing together and then tapped the hole in the new sensor port.

Don't have a finished pic as I welded/tapped it this morning and took it straight to mechanics - hopefully I can get my "BaZooka" back this evening before the weekend.

This engine swap was complicated by putting a 2012 M18a VTT out of a Liana into a 2004 non-VVT Jimny.
Mechanic did not want to do the regular "frankenstein" swap and just wanted to effectively transplant the whole engine, loom and ECU from the Liana.

Had a clever old school auto sparky that had wiring diagrams for both and made "everything talk to everything" and spliced a few things in/out of the loom where needed.
