Fitting roof rails on Japanese import

Fitting roof rails on Japanese import was created by Jimnius
Evening All,
I have just flipped my Jimny of 8 years on black ice, and given the crushed roof and not one straight panel, it will definitely be written off. I am actively looking for a replacement, and there happens to be a nice grey import not too far away. Having looked at pictures of many imports, I notice that none of them have the roof rails that were fitted to UK cars. When I fitted my Raptor roof rack, I remember thinking the fitting arrangement was unusual with studs protruding from the roof structure. Given that imported cars do not have rails, and so no fixing studs, has anyone fitted rails or a roof rack to one of these. Apart from removing the headlining and drilling holes in the roof, I cannot see how it can be done, Even then, that part of the roof must contain some form of box section for strength, and so might still preclude drilling and fixing. A roof rack is a must for me, so this could be a deal breaker. Any advice or experience would be very welcome.
Steve

After a very cursory glance at Google images it looks like they use clamps that hook into the rear side window reveals and front door aperture kinda like some European cars do. Getting hold of such a thing in the UK could prove interesting unless your Japanese is passable.

For what year Jimny are you looking for? On the 2018 and onwards, the roof bars are mounted on the gutters. I found a very good one on eBay.

I've searched extensively, but not found a similar image. Do you have a link?
Many thanks, Steve

It is a generation 3 2013 model. The problem these days is the internet is flooded with everything generation 4, making it harder to filter for earlier models.

Shamelessly stolen off a Google search of an ebay listing.
ebay item number 126571303778
Second image in listing when zoomed in shows the clamp on bars to carry the rack. Note the listing is actually for suspension.
