Hi all looking for some help please!

Picked up an old Gen3 about 6 months ago as a bit of a project/start into off-roading. Its since become my daily driver as I  love it. Anyway, it's starting to show the odd bit of wear and tear, as to be expected.

Yesterday it started making a tinny rattling sound, from underneath. Sounds like a snapped heat sink, but I've gone underneath a few times and they're all solid. Only doing it while driving, though doesn't appear related to a specific gear. Does appear to happen over bumps too as I coasted the car over a bumpy road and it rattled again. It isn't happening all of the time and I can't seem to replicate the sound when I want to.

Seems to be coming from the rear prop, or something knocking the rear prop which is vibrating and causing a tinny sound. Video below shows knocking on the prop which makes a similar sound and when you wiggle the output shaft on the transfer case it makes a similar sound.

Has anyone seen this before? I presume something in the transfer case is either on the way our or already dead? Is it catastrophic/will it drive a little before addressing it?

Any help or thoughts greatly appreciated
Rory

I would remove the prop shaft
This will give you a little more feel on the joints
Or just buy a good used replacement
I personally would keep using it till my replacement prop arrives

Reason you can replace the uj joint but it sounds and looks like it's the cv type joint that's problematic
