Hello everyone, I have a manual 2005 vvt facelift Jimny (with the push button transfer case) and was wondering if a 2012 manual transmission would bolt straight in and work the same? My gear box has got a really bad whine and is about to blow haha, don’t want to repair the box as it has done almost 400000kms

thanks:)

My 05 jimny have the 2012-ish gearbox now. bought and replaced some years ago and ran ok for a few years until I changed the bearings two months ago.

The 2012 gearbox will most likely have more of the upgrade bearings with closed sides and should last longer.

Rough guide but might vary with markets:
98 to 00 r7me with the flange for the G13
01 to 04 r7me with flange for the m13
05 to 09-ish R72 with open bearings different ratio gears so will not fit earlier.
10 to 18 R72 with closed bearings. same ratio gears as above.

Norway 2005 Jimny M16A VVT, 235 Cooper Disco, 2" Trailmaster, ARB rear lck.
