What country are you in?

I've fitted a JDM remote/key to my Jimny (UK spec 2008), and the distance is nowhere near as good as the original one. I read that this is due to the differences in the radio frequencies used in the UK/EU vs. JP

Although I prefer it as it uses one button for lock/unlock and maaaaad points for it being #JDMdawg.

I believe your key/receiver relies on infrared to connect to the car, so it may be worth removing the dome (it just clips on) and giving it a clean, same with the key.

I'm in the USA, but the car is a JDM JB33W.

Good info on the fob/receiver. I'll pop that dome off and see what's underneath. Thankfully, since the vehicle is the size of a telephone booth, if I simply had to use the key to unlock the doors, it wouldn't be an issue. But if I could improve its range, I'll give it a go.

Infrared is line-of-sight, of course. Not at all practical, if that is indeed what we have here.
