Is there a simple way to get the rocker box gasket to sit in position when laying the cover back on ? do you seat the gasket into the cover first or lay the gasket onto the cylinder head and try and slip it into position ?

You dont say what model you have, however all the Jimnys I have worked on the gasket has little tags that fit into cut-outs in the metal cover. So fit them to the cover first.
