Mine has never had them done, and it is celebrating it's 6th birthday this year!
Mind you, it has only done 5000 miles in 6 years...
I remember dismantling my SV650 to check them at 10 years and around 20,000 miles. They were spot on. So were the ones in my gen3 with around 150,000! (but they could have been done the day before I got it on around 130,000) Suzuki always used to be good at making engines. I suspect if they were right at manufacture they won't change for many, many thousands of miles.

Mine has had the aircon regassed twice though, it was 160g down the day before yesterday.

I had it done at the first MOT when it was hardly cooling at all, so I had it done again at the MOT this week, it was still cooling, but not as cold as I wanted.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

My 2019 SZ5 hasn't had it checked because at the time there wasn't any parts available and as my car is low mileage (8400 currently) they said  it probably doesn't really need checking and it's one of those things you can basically hear anyway so if it all sounds good there's no need to take it apart. Car is still under warranty. I would trust a Suzuki engine to be near bullet proof. BigJimny which is a 2003 car and has been heavily modified and off-roaded for its whole life is still on its original engine and I doubt that has ever been checked. Poor engine screams away trying to haul all the extra weight the car has but it's still a good runner with no unusual noises. Started straight up after been sat for 7 years on 7 year old fuel.

The danger is that they close up and burn the valve seats as well as lose compression, it doesn't matter if they wear a little bit larger and start tapping. (Well if they wear much too large it will affect the timing and the power)

The old bullet proof Isuzu canted diesel that was the best engine Vauxhall fitted used to close the valves up and became a poor starter at about 100,000 miles or so as the compression was down. In an hour or two you could flick the shims out and grind a bit off the rear face to put some clearance back and it was good for another 100,000 miles. I don't know if the valve seat used to hammer into the head, or the valve stem stretched slightly, I'd guess the former is more likely, I'm pretty sure the head was made of aloominums,

I'd expect the head to give initially then work harden and stabilise with all the little impacts, so I'd build them all on max clearance anticipating them to reduce slightly with initial use and then remain stable for pretty much the rest of the engine's life.   The trick being to have enough clearance at build so they drop down to above minimum.

I shall check my SZ5 when I get to 10,000, and if they are below minimum I'll just put the cover back with the old gasket and it can have the full service with valve setting.
