Hello, I'm preparing the presentation of my Jimny to post it in the corresponding sub-forum. Cheers!I have a third-generation Jimny, which has had an electrical problem (or several) for years, and I believe they are all related. I need to know if anyone else has experienced this issue and what you recommend I check first (to avoid wasting too much time).

Two years ago:
  • Erratic operation of the windshield wipers; they would activate on their own when it rained heavily.
  • Sometimes, the radio would stay on even after removing the key.
  • The immobilizer system occasionally fails. I have to wait 2 seconds in the ignition position (without starting) to prevent failure. If I start it immediately, the engine runs for 2 seconds and then shuts off, indicating an immobilizer failure.
One year ago:
  • The windshield wipers got worse; they would turn on and off by themselves, but only when it rained.
  • The windshield washer pump stopped working (possibly wiring, contact or something else), but the motor was fine.
  • In the morning, the battery is always charged. However, after using the car and stopping while the engine is hot, when trying to restart, the engine cranks slowly as if the battery were low. Or so I think, I don't think it's a battery.
Two days ago:
  • When trying to start the Jeep in the morning, the starter motor didn’t turn. The solenoid clicked, but the engine didn’t crank. There were no signs of a dead battery, as the interior fans ran at full speed.
  • Without checking much, I pushed the Jeep to start it since I needed to use it. It started immediately. On the highway, I stopped the engine to see if it would restart with the starter motor, but it didn’t, which makes me doubt a battery charging issue (though I haven’t tested enough to rule it out completely).
  • Both turn signals dimly light up or flicker slightly on the dashboard, as if a wire were shorted.
  • When I turn on the normal headlights (not high beams), both turn signals light up slightly.
  • Changing the road surface roughness or engine RPMs sometimes triggers the turn signals (both).
Clearly, there’s an electrical problem. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Maybe I have the same failure. I don’t want to disassemble the internal or external fuse box to find out where a spider built its nest or where a cat may have peed. 😂It’s a third-generation Suzuki Jimny, no airbags, no ABS brakes, 260,000 km, 12 years old, single owner. The wiring harness has never been disassembled or modified.
I left the jeep parked and disconnected the battery, for fear of a possible short circuit that could catch fire. Before I start testing and taking it apart, I'd like to see if anyone else has had the same experience. Thanks and greetings!

I'd say you possibly have multiple problems.

I would start by cleaning the main grounds, the battery negative connection will go to two places, one being the bellhousing near the starter and the other somewhere on the firewall.

Disconnect all three fittings, wirebrush the fittings and the spot they attach to, and reassemble, and see what impact that has.

It may or may not resolve any of the issues, but it could possibly resolve the no crank, and the turn signals glowing - if it doesn't, troubleshoot the starter as a separate issue and for the turn signals clean the grounds at all of the park light assemblies.

Let us know which problems remain after this exercise.
