Hi all,
New here, seemed like a good idea to sign up after my recent issues with my "trusted" Suzuki dealer.
Last year I finally buckled in to my Jimny desires and bought a Jimny - a 2008 JLX in almost perfect condition!
I don't think the guy I bought it from really knew anything about Jimny's and seems like they may have used the wrong coolant, when I noticed the coolant was low (there seemed to be a small leak somewhere in the radiator) I asked what coolant was used so I could top it up. I got no response from the guy so I figured that was fishy. I did a full flush of the coolant and stocked up, and used one of the sealant mixes (sorry, new to all the self-repairs but loving learning). The sealant solved the problem and I was stocked up with coolant - so great!
As I was now paranoid about what other issues might be going on with the car with the guy who sold it to me ghosting, I thought the best thing to do would be to take it to the local "trusted" Suzuki dealer for a full service. This cost me about £600! I told them ahead of the service that there wouldn't be a need for the coolant change as I had recently done all of that and stocked up. But, they did it anyway and put in something dark green which on the paper work just says "long life - Green". They also flagged about £3K worth of issues with the car which when I looked at the car afterwards didn't check out so I took it to a different place for the MOT and a check over and they agreed there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. So, maybe I can't trust the official dealers. What's everyone else's experience with the official dealers?
Anyway, I didn't want to mix coolants and I'd rather not do a whole flush of the coolant again so I asked the official dealer in an email what was used (brand and type and where to buy more). I got no response.
I emailed again a few days ago to follow up - seeing that now the leak is back in the radiator and the reservoir is getting very low. Again, no response...
So, my question I guess is; would anyone here know what coolant they may have used so I could simply get some and top it up? (I'm in the UK if that helps). Or, do I go through the whole flush and refill again with what I have to be safe? Or if it was you, would you go back to the official dealer and get them to deal with it seeing as they are being very unprofessional?
Thanks in advance for the advice!

Welcome to the forum. Firstly what coolant do you have in stock as some are compatible and others not. Secondly dealer service can be very hit and miss. Third be careful with the cooling system because once they overheat you have problems that will probably end in a new head gasket. Assuming it's not done that then look at a new radiator for it to keep it in proper working order.

I have the Comma Exstream G30 antifreeze & coolant, does that sound right?
I'd like to avoid doing another full flush though, so, ideally someone might be able to tell me what coolant the dealer will have used and where I could get it?
Thanks!

Dealers vary as they're franchises. A 2008 Jimny is going to be about as familiar to some younger Suzuki technicians as a De Tomaso would be.
Mine has only ever had the blue Suzuki coolant in it. It's not expensive from dealers (it is if you buy online).
A coolant change only gets out about 2/3 of the old coolant, so you need to do it at least twice to get a good effect (replacement of the anti-corrosive components).
