I'm sure this has probably been covered somewhere, but Gen4 shock absorbers should fit a Gen3 no problem?
Looking to potentially upgrade from the cheap Ultima ones that came with my 40mm lift kit that I put on my gen3 quite a few years ago.
A few suppliers here in NZ seem to list some shocks under the Gen4 pages on their websites, that don't appear under the Gen3 and vice versa. One particular brand, Dobinsons, has the same part numbers for both models on their Aussie website but the NZ resellers sometimes only list them for Gen4, not Gen3.
I'm pretty sure the running gear on a Gen4 is virtually like for like against the previous model, and the resellers are just ignorant as to the fact that they will fit either model.
The Gen4 has proven so popular here that everyone wants parts for the new model, and the gen3s get a bit forgotten about - even though they are very similar underneath.
Asking as there are a couple options I'm looking at that say they're for a gen4, but I'm pretty sure they'll fit my vehicle just fine.

Yes the fitment is identical. I have standard Gen4 suspension on my Gen3 and there's no noticeable differences.

Cheers. I suspected that was the case.
Have ordered a set of XGG Pro XS (local company 😀) remote res shocks so will be quite the upgrade.

I checked and googled and found what lenght of dampers were available from different webshops and for different lifts. Found the length of my broken trailmaster shocks and found a similar lenght of shock from a KYB list that could be sourced for a reasonable price.
Seems that the Grand Vitara rear shocks fit the 2" inch trailmaster lift. Not ideal but as long as the germans did not want to send any out of EU or something, and the currency and Putin make everything expensive, I had to make do.
would sure like to have some with a remote res though. Not sure if It would pass an inspection now with the wrong dampers here in Norway though..
